Germans choose Porto for the engineering company Continental

Continental announced on Monday that it will invest in an engineering and service center in Portugal. Porto is the city chosen for Continental Engineering Services (CES), born in Frankfurt and Nuremberg, with 1800 workers in 20 locations worldwide and will have its own space around Asprela's university center, near the Faculty of Engineering from the University of Porto.

It can grow to 300 engineers, who will help develop solutions for electric vehicles, autonomous driving and cybersecurity.

The German group from Hanover had announced, a few months ago, an investment of 100 million in the tire factory of Lousado, to increase the productive capacity. Now it shows that it counts on Portugal to also expand in other business areas. “After almost six years of studies and negotiations, it is with great satisfaction that we see the installation of this new company in Portugal”, stresses Continental's president, Pedro Carreira.

“We are proud to expand our activities to Porto and build a team of excellence. We believe in the quality of Portuguese engineers,”says Jochen Diehm, director of Continental's engineering services. "We are confident that this new location will be the cornerstone of our success in the future."
